Class Descriptions

Classes are organized by both age and ability.  Advancing levels are rewarded upon the student’s successful mastery of the requisite skills.

PARENT TOT (ADULTS WITH CHILDREN AGES 6 MONTHS TO 3 YEARS)

This is a fantastic opportunity for children to enjoy the water while being accompanied by a parent/adult. Instructors will guide parents in teaching their children. Skills such as supported floating, supported kicking, bubble-blowing, drafting, and passing will be introduced. Parents will learn to use proper support techniques and effective visual/verbal cues to encourage the development of their tot’s basic swimming skills. This class is designed to help children become comfortable in the water. It is also designed to acclimate young children to the swim lesson environment and instructors in preparation for joining our group lessons. You will play games, sing songs, have fun, and learn about water safety. No previous swimming experience necessary.

SUPERTOT (CHILDREN 3-5)

This is a great opportunity for “super tots” (children ages 3-5) to have fun and learn new skills such as supported floating, supported kicking, bubble-blowing, drafting, and passing. More advanced tots will be introduced to independent skills such as unsupported floating, gliding, unsupported kicking, and water entry/exit. This class is designed to help children become comfortable in the water. Instructors will emphasize fun and safety. No previous swimming experience necessary.

LEARN TO SWIM (CHILDREN 5 - 13)

Level I-IV participants do not need to select a specific class level when registering. No previous swimming experience necessary. On the first day of each session, all participants will be assessed to ensure appropriate class placement. Swimmers will be assigned to a class with other students who have similar skill levels. Lessons will have a 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio, and will be tailored to meet each student’s needs. Level 5 and 6 Learn-to-Swim will be offered only at morning 9-9:45 a.m. and evening 7-7:45 p.m. classes. NOTE: This is a 45-minute class.

TEEN AND ADULT SWIM LESSONS

Adult/Teen group lessons are a fun way for swimmers of all abilities to come and improve their skills. If you are afraid of the water or if you've just never learned to swim, this is the class for you! If you have some swimming skills but wish to advance, this class will also meet your needs. Participants will be guided through water adjustment, buoyancy drills, and stroke technique in a low-pressure, supportive environment.  Ages 14+.

ADAPTIVE SWIM LESSONS

Adaptive swim lessons are available to our patrons with a disability(s) of all ages. Before classes begin, participants will speak with instructors to discuss swimming goals and special needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to receive some individual pool time with an instructor.
